C JEAN - “THREE QUIET ROOMS” Exhibition

C JEAN

C JEAN, one of Taiwan’s leading designer brands presents its first collection showing in Tokyo.

“THREE QUIET ROOMS” presents works that translate the lacquer art of Taiwanese urushi master Wang Ching-shuang (also known in Japan as Seizō; recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays) into contemporary clothing, alongside bags created across three generations with Wang Ching-shuang, his son Wang Hsien-chih and his grandson Wang Chun-wei. In collaboration with Hiroyuki Kambayashi, a rōketsuzome dyeing artisan of Shobien (Kyoto), garments are built from cloth he dyed by hand — proposing a new relationship between craft and contemporary clothing.

Free Fabric Festival

FREE FABRIC FESTIVAL is a new kind of event where surplus materials from fashion brands are gathered in one place for visitors to take home. It was designed to bridge the gap between the "surplus" held by brands and the "shortage" experienced by students and creators in need of quality fabrics. Anyone who purchases an entrance ticket is welcome to take home as much material as they can carry out of the venue. Visitors will also have the opportunity to consult directly with designers from participating brands about fabric selection during the event.
